Welcome to www.peshitta.netfirms.com! This is my small website for promoting the Peshitta (the Aramaic Bible) and Aramaic Peshitta Primacy (and to a lesser extent, Aramaic Peshitto Primacy) - the belief that the New Testament was originally written in Aramaic, and is found in the version known as the "Peshitta", which means "straight". My free book will explain to you why Greek primacy (the belief in the originality of the Greek New Testament) is illogical, and why Old Syriac primacy is a farce, by looking at the historical evidence, and more importantly, the linguistic evidence. (It is also planned for this site to be THE place for FREE study of the Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, English, Peshitta, Peshitto, Old Syriac, etc).
The purpose of this website is primarily to provide FREE downloads of my book:
Was the New Testament Really Written in Greek?
Note: Depending on your browser, you may not be asked if you want to download the file. In that case, right-click the link and select "Save target as".
Please note that due to the size of the topic, as well as the quantity and detail of the internal (linguistic) and external (historical) proofs, this is a very large download.
This file is in the PDF format and will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher. Click here for a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.
This website also has many other Peshitta-related goodies and Bible research tools (for Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek and English versions), which can be found by clicking on the buttons to the left.
For those familiar with my "Peshitta Primacy Proof" series of articles, they are now obsolete. They have been redone as chapters in this book, which has many more proofs and includes featured articles dealing with Koine Greek / Biblical Greek comparisons, Semitic syntax in the Greek NT, and Bible codes that are found in the Aramaic Peshitta, though lacking in the Greek. All the old Greek Bible contradictions, Greek variants, split words, mistranslations, idioms, Aramaicisms, Semiticisms, Biblical poetry in the Peshitta, and other proofs from the old articles are included. This book will have all the proofs needed to prove Peschitta Primacy (and to a lesser extent, Peschitto Primacy).
With all humility, I believe this book is the biggest and best single source for Aramaic Peshitta primacy proofs - and best of all, it is free (unlike the books by Dr. George Lamsa, translator of the Peshitta and creator of the "Lamsa Bible").
Here is the table of contents from the book, to give a general idea of the topics covered:
I hope this work will encourage you to even just take a look at the Peshitta, which is at best the original NT, and at worst, a very ancient version which solves many Greek problems (just as the LXX is an ancient Greek OT that solves many Massoretic Hebrew problems).
Enjoy!
